What a week we've had wrecking the place! In a good way, of course, because the time has come to get on with the remodelling of the first and ground floors.
'
This has meant the willing but unskilled labour of our staff has been able to add to the impact of the builder, because crowbars and hammers don't discriminate that much. So we've had a smashing old time getting rid of the plaster and lathes of the old internal stud walls and the from the exterior stonework to getr it ready for insulation.
'
This generated several tons of plaster and other waste, but a quick emergency whip-round online bought in the extra cash we needed for the skip, so the site is now as clean and tidy as building sites ever are.

The work scheduled for the coming weeks is much more simple than the structural rebuilding which took up most of the winter and early spring. Basically, we've just got to keep George in supply of timber and screws for new studwork - and the money to pay him to measure, saw and fit the enormous number of pices of timber needed to refashion these rooms according to the overall plan.

There's nothing really glamorous about this next stage, but it's the essential step between the now completed challenge of structural work and the still to come drama and achievement of the new finishings and fittings. There really is light and the end of the tunnel, but it's still quite a long way off.
