“In The Name of God (Deus Vult)” is the 7th song of German Power-Metal Band Powerwolf’s album: Preachers of the Night.
As one may know by the title and lyrics of the track, the song is about the Holy Crusades in which wars were fought to free the Holy Land from the Arab armies that had seized it.The battle cry of the warriors during the crusades were “Deus Vult” which translates to “God wills it” in Latin.
The song is from the perspective of an anonymous man in the midst of battle, he and his fellow knights are full of adrenaline and determination to fight for God and kill for God, Mother Maria, and all that is holy!
