England's Most Traditional_Chippy

"Like walking back into the 1940s". Once upon a time, every fish and chip shop in the country was powered by coal and fried the chips in beef dripping. But if you thought you could never experience a fish supper exactly like your grandparents - and their grandparents - used to enjoy, think again!

The Upton Fish and Chip Shop, near the Lincolnshire market town of Gainsborough, still uses coal to fire its fryers, and it still cooks its chips the proper way - in beef dripping.

How much longer the 'green' fanatics ruining Britain will allow them to go on using coal isn't clear, but if you want to grab a rare memory of the old days, we suggest you get yourself to Upton sooner rather than later!
