Follow @KnightsTempOrgA beautiful vintage Bible will take pride of place in our soon-to-be-restored chapel at the St. Donard’s Priory in Ireland.
This historic version of the Good Book faced being sold to a German antique dealing operation, which specialises in cutting out and framing prints and pictures from old books. This would have meant the complete destruction of this wonderful old Bible, which would have been mutilated and tossed into a skip.
Fortunately, a successful snap appeal allowed us to save it, thanks primarily to the generosity of our regular Templar Report viewers on Purged.tv.
It is now booked in to a highly skilled artisan book-binder for the repair of the damaged cover, which is the only blemish in the whole massive and historic volume.
The names of everyone who contributed to this successful rescue operation are going to be recorded for posterity in a Roll of Honour plaque, which will be mounted on the wall next to the restored Bible’s new and permanent home.
