In Times of Coronavirus, Listen to Amazing Church Music to Find Peace

Global anxiety has reached an apex; debilitating and all-consuming, it paralyses so many of us in fear or hopelessness or anger. Of course, our descent into chronic anxiety began many decades ago: it fuels our fast-paced lives, our neverending economic concerns, our desperate avoidance and fear of discomfort and death.

Music, one of the greatest gifts of God to humanity, has an almost mysterious effect on us.

This hymn is sung during the Russian Orthodox Church Service during Great Lent, the forty-day fast that precedes Easter. It is usually sung during a Presanctified Liturgy (a service that is unique to Great Lent) by a trio or quartet in the middle of the church, as all believers drop to their knees.

Here are the words:

Let my prayer arise in thy sight as incense;

and let the lifting up of my hands be an evening sacrifice.

Lord, I call upon thee, hear me;

receive the voice of my prayer, when I call upon thee.

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth,

and keep watch over the door of my lips.

Incline not my heart to evil words,

nor to make excuses for sins.

While we have your attention, we would like to remind you of our Emergency Ukraine Appeal

While BILLIONS of Dollars pours into western Ukraine, the beleaguered people in the east have been forgotten and abandoned to starve or freeze to death. WE WILL NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN! In conjunction with our brethren on the ground in the area I am asking you to dig deep and send your immediate financial support (as best you can) to our EMERGENCY UKRAINE WAR APPEAL!
