No escape from the Tories’ LGBT school agenda

No escape from the Tories’ LGBT school agenda

If anyone doubts that the Conservative-In-Name-Only government is not conservative, just look at the latest guidance issued by the Department for Education. Compulsory Relationships and Sex Education will be introduced into all secondary schools, and Relationships Education in all primary schools, from September 2020.

Despite the vast majority of parents being opposed, the new curriculum will be pickled in politically correct ideology. Section 26 of the guidance requires schools to ensure that their policy on Relationships and Sex Education is in line with the Equality Act 2010, which demands that particular regard is shown to groups or individuals with protected characteristics, and allows positive action to support such groups.

In the brave new world of equality, diversity and inclusion, some protected characteristics are more equal than others. In schools, conservative Christian and Jewish teachers have lost out to LGBT activists, even though religious belief is a protected characteristic. To foster good relations with ‘gender reassigned persons’ and pay particular regard to their needs, teachers must accept and affirm the statements of children who say they are the sex that they aren’t. Since the inception of the Equality Act 2010, a number of teachers have been fired for refusing to accept the Orwellian worldview that they must obey and affirm children who are speaking nonsense.

Ultimately, children are to be brought up as gender neutral. They will be taught that they are not boys or girls but choose their gender when they are ready. This could be at age five, but it could be never. They can be genderfluid – a quasi-schizophrenic condition where one chooses one’s gender from 70 or so different options on a moment-by-moment basis.

LGBT activists also want to bring up children to accept the ideology of the ‘modern family’, which views the traditional family as just one of dozens of different lifestyle choices: thus, mother and father, two mothers, two fathers, single mother, single father, polygamous, polyandrous, etc are all equivalent and no one is allowed to view one family model as being superior or inferior, or more or less natural than any other.

These ideologies are already widely being taught in schools, often without parents’ knowledge. In the Conservative-In-Name-Only plans, they will become ubiquitous. Many primary schools already use off-the-peg lessons produced by LGBT organisations claiming to ‘confront homophobic bullying’. The guidance links to the website of Stonewall where a ready-made poster called ‘Different Families, Same Love’ is available for time-pressed teachers. Six-year-olds have been given books such as ‘King and King’ or ‘Heather Has Two Mummies’ which are about a same-sex couple with children. Children as young as four are encouraged to dress up in the clothes of the opposite sex and given ‘My Princess Boy’ to normalise transgenderism. Ten-year-olds are encouraged to attend a gay pride march whether parents agree or not. In most places, you can be sure that the police force will be there dressed up in rainbows and condemning anyone who disagrees as ‘homophobic’ and ‘transphobic’.

In an exceptional piece of Orwellian doublespeak, the guidance affirms parents as the primary educators of their children even though it acts to remove their rights as primary educators and replace them with the state.

From September 2020, the parental opt-out is being removed from Relationships Education entirely, so if a lesson plan for eight-year-olds or five-year-olds teaches them about the ‘modern family’, same-sex marriage, or gay pride marches, the child will have to attend. It remains for the Sex Education part of RSE in secondary schools, but it will be far more difficult to use. A lesson plan for 11-year-olds for example, may provide for a ten-minute slot teaching children the details of gay sex, and then a 30-minute discussion of gay relationships. Parents will have the right to remove their children from the first ten minutes about gay sex, but they will have to return for the 30-minute discussion about gay relationships. In addition, the headteacher will be given powers to overrule parents ‘in exceptional circumstances’.

Fifteen-year-olds will also be able to opt themselves back in, even if their parents decide to remove them. This is part of a new and disturbing reappearance of a move towards the acceptance of ‘children’s sexual rights’ by progressive liberals.

The Judaeo-Christian moral framework, which has existed in the West for two millennia, teaches children to be responsible in their relationships, to value the family and to understand marriage between a man and a woman as an essential lifelong commitment needed to bring up children. Rational thinking which sprang up out of the Christian tradition grounds us in knowledge based upon observable facts. Over the last 50 years this framework of morality and reason has been systematically dismantled, with the result that society is in chaos. Far from understanding the roots of the chaos, the governments of Cameron and May have aligned themselves with the Left and sought to pull down that framework entirely.

True conservatives need to become more muscular in opposition to the relentless cultural deconstruction. This includes standing up to Theresa May’s government, which is now no different to any Left-wing, progressive liberal party, and is not conserving anything, especially not the natural family and the right of children to have a childhood without being exposed to the sexual ideologies of adults.

In the political sphere, only UKIP stands opposed. In its manifesto released last week, UKIP specifically opposes the introduction of LGBT-inclusive Relationships Education in primary schools, and also introduces a policy to repeal the Equality Act 2010 which writes political correctness into British law. There is now at least one choice to vote against LGBT and transgender indoctrination of children at the ballot box.

There is also a consultation on the plans which is open until November 7.

It is worth filling it in.

An alternative vision for Relationships and Sex Education by the campaigning group Voice For Justice has been published. It recognises that only by rebuilding and restoring the foundations and moral framework which have been torn down will future generations have any hope of living in a sane society.
