Priory Progress - Joist Reinforcement
Priory Progress - Joist Reinforcement
Follow @KnightsTempOrgThe New Year kicked off with further progress on the Priory House restoration project. As soon as our suppliers were back from holiday, we took delivery of a stack (only a fraction is shown in the picture) of pressure-treated timber. This is needed to reinforce the joists in the floor of the attic, in order to bring it up to proper room standards.
This was possible thanks to a generous donation from one of supporters who hasn't given for a while, topped up by help from a couple of our regular donors - you know who you are, and that your help is very much appreciated! All this new wood and steel, and the labour to put it all into place, doesn't come cheap.
Our picture shows builder George with the very first one just fixed into position. The rest will soon be cut to perfect length and screwed to the original attic joists which they are reinforcing. So we should shortly be able to show you pictures of the new loft conversion bedrooms floor laid. We need to get all this work done so that we're ready to go through the roof as soon as the first few days of early spring arrive.
This will allow us to install the big skylights which will give plenty of light and ventilation to these important additions to our accommodation. That's a few weeks off, of course, but there's plenty more to do inside while we're waiting for the end of winter.
As always, many thanks to those who have chipped in to help with this latest progress. Together, we're getting there. Deus Vult!
