Priory Project Marches On

Priory Project Marches On

We've had another great week of progress on the Priory House renovation project. Our headline picture shows one of the new RSJ beams which have now had wooden frames fixed round them ready for the timber cladding which is necessary to comply with safety-inspired building regulations.

Non-builders may be surprised to learn that steel beams have to be protected with either special heat-activate expanding foam paint, or with timber planks, in order to increase the time before which they bend and buckle in the event of a fire. But that's how the physics work, so this vital job was one of the tasks accomplished this weel.

Meanwhile, many of the rooms are now insulated with high-spec foil-backed insulated boards. These will add enormously to the thermal efficiency of the finished house, allowing us to keep heating costs low while ensuring that all the rooms are warm and cosy even on cold and damp Northern Irish days.

Our final photo this week shows several of the radiators ready to be installed.

As always, thank you so much to everyone whose donations, membership dues and purchases continue to power this vital project forwards. Deus Vult!
