The project hit a delay this week when our very skilled, hard-working and meticulous builder was struck down by the flu-thing that's doing the rounds here in Northern Ireland at the moment.

Fortunately, before he had to go off sick for a couple of days, George got the flitch beams made and installed. That means that he's now ready to fit straps from these to the roof timbers, which will allow us to remove the old purlins and the temporary props holding them up
Doing all this doesn't actually gain us a huge amount of space in terms of inches, but it does win us the vital space we need to make it possible to have a double row of beds in each room. Plus, also hugely important, to fit a toilet and washbasin in the hallway. This is what really makes the attic conversion practical and truly beneficial, so it just had to be done. As you know, there are no half-measures in this vital project. We want the best for our visiting brethren, and to maximise our capacity to help Christians in need at times of crisis.

Through the newly punched dooorway, you can make out the studwork on the landing for the "rest room", as our many American brethren call it. By the way, one generous donation, from a friend who wishes to remain anonymous, made for all the sheets of new flooring. As so often happens, just as we're wondering where the money for the next step will come from, soneone steps up and gives us what we need to carry on, full steam ahead. Deus Vult, indeed!
Despite the delay, we're hopeful that, by the end of next week, the Veluxe windows will be going in. That will be a HUGE turning point in the whole renovation, so if by chance you haven't chipped in recently, or have done but want to help even more, now - during Lent -would be a great time to do so.
Thank you if you can, and God bless you if you can't. Deus Vult!
