St David's Day: March 1st

St David's Day: March 1st

St. David is the Patron Saint of Wales. Today is his day, Dydd Dewi Sant, in the ‘old language’.

Wales hosts the largest population of speakers of any Celtic language, with more than a million of its three million population speaking Cymraeg – Welsh – which descends from Celtic.

The language is almost identical to Cornish and to Breton, and closely related to Scots, Irish and Manx Gaelic.
