Taking a Stand for Traditional Values

"A woman is a woman, a man is a man, a mother is a mother, and a father is a father." Not a single mainstream politician anywhere in Western Europe or the English-speaking New World would dare to make such a statement these days. Many of them - including the current heads of the USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia and New Zealand - would bleat about 'our values' and condemn such basic common sense as 'homophobic', 'transphobic', 'misogynistic' and potentially 'fascist'.

But one leader is very different. Fielding questions during a recent four-hour marathon press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin took a stand against the 'caravan of Western values' and spoke out for Christian tradition and the true and eternal values of traditionalism:

"Take athletes. A man declares himself a woman and competes, say, in weightlifting or some other sport. Women’s sport will cease to exist completely. There must be some common sense. I uphold the traditional approach that a woman is a woman, a man is a man, a mother is a mother, and a father is a father." Amen to that!
