The choir of the Abbey School, Tewkesbury sing Rev Clement Cotterill Scholefield’s beautiful hymn The day Thou gavest Lord is ended.

This beautiful evening hymn is one of almost countless examples of the great power, yet also the sweet and gentle gracefulness, of so many Anglican hymns.

The day thou gavest, Lord, is ended, the darkness falls at thy behest; to thee our morning hymns ascended, thy praise shall sanctify our rest.
