Turin Shroud Evidence In Brief
Turin Shroud Evidence In Brief
Follow @KnightsTempOrgSince we have just entered Lent, with Easter now less than forty days away, it is a good time to think carefully about Easter, and the death and resurrection of Jesus. So let us take a brief look at the Turin Shroud.
For many decades, atheists and cynics have claimed that the Turin Shroud is a "medieval fake". But forensic analyis in recent years has found a number of aspects of the Shroud which no medieval forger could even have known about, let alone created as part of a hoax.
Here are the main points which cannot be dismissed, the Turin Shroud has:
- Blood chemicals showing the victim had been tortured.
- Perfect blood flows and clots no artist hadsever managed to mimic.
- Microscopic traces of dirt matching the chemical fingerprint of Jerusalem soil.
- Jerusalem pollens that only flower in Spring, when Jesus was crucified.
- Things only an eye-witness could know, like the nails through the wrists rather than the palms, which couldn't have held the weight of a body.
- Scourge marks matching three Roman whips that a medieval forger wouldn't have known about, but that modern archaeologists have confirmed.
- Images on first-millennium icons and coins matching the face on the Shroud.
- The impossible photographic image of the face – an image confined to the microscopic surface of the cloth, indicating that no fluid or gas could have made the image. It could only, it seems, have come from a brief but massive burst of radiant energy created by a process stil unknown to science.
Two or three of these things would be remarkable, together, the provide overwhelming evidence that the Shroud is genuine, and that it proves what we already knew:
That Jesus Christ lived as a man, was crucifed, dead and buried, and was resurrected. He is indeed the Lord our God!
