What a View We Now Have - Priory Update

Perhaps this photo doesn't quite do it justice, but every single person who has attended one of our Knighting Ceremonies will spot the tower on the hill in the distance and instantly get a flood of wonderful memories. It's Scrabo Tower, the landmark which dominates the fine little town of Newtownards and a place our tours over the last few years passed almost every day. Several times we even went up there, enjoying the views down to Eire and across the sea to Scotland, Cumbria and the Isle of Mann.

And now, as we knew we would, we have our own view to Scrabo Hill and its 135 feet tall memorial tower. So although the two dormitory bedrooms in the converted attic will never be as luxurious as the fully en suite master double edrooms on the first floor, visitors who get to stay right up here will wake up eah morning to this smashing view over the town of Comber and the green countryside of County Antrim beyond.

Taken from the Chapter House garden, this picture shows the position of the three new roof lights. As you can see, our fine old apple tree is just coming into leaf. If the weather stays sunny we should be able to bring you a lovely picture of the Chapter House and our Chjapel cross taken through its beautiful blossom in a week or so.
It's always a wonderful sight, but it will be all the better this year for also giving a glimpse of the progress with the Priory Project which your continued generosity has made possible already, and will help us complete.

Our final photo here shows Pastor Dowson with the third and final window hole just cut through the newly reinforced roof. The veluxe behind him is now installed, so both bedrooms and the landing are now fully weatherproof and flooded with morning light. We can't wait to show visitors in person, and hope very much that you will be among them.
After all, this is YOUR Priory House, YOUR base whenever you want to come and spend time here.
As soon, that is, as the work is finished, and although we're making steady progress, that's still some way off. We've already got all the insulation which has to go into these rooms very shortly, but then we'll be at the plastering and second fix electric stage. At present, to be blunt, we simply don't have the money to pay for that specialist sub-contract work.
We don't wnat to hold it up though, so we really are hoping for some extra special donations this week, in order to be able to book the sub-contractors so we can roll straight into the next phase, without any frustrating delay. We are sure that some of you will answer the call. Deus Vult!

Thank you if you can, and God bless you if you can't.
