American colonists admired, like most of Europe, the Hussars of Death, a military corps formed during the French Revolution. They were cavalry soldiers dressed in Hungarian style.

 

The hilt of this American saber is handcrafted and reflects his admiration for the French style of the 1700s. This fast, well-balanced sword was designed for the horse-mounted fighter. The hilt is solid steel with carved hardwood grip with spiral design that matches a well-tempered 1085 high carbon steel blade.

 

This attractive sword can be seen in the book "Swords and Blades of the American Revolution" by OC Newmann A piece of early American history to start or add to your collection.
