Will you sign our Open Letter to Merrick Garland - Investigate and Punish the Hate-Mongers

After Donald Trump escaped death by a mere inch or two, the USA’s political class is united in proclaiming that political violence has absolutely no place in American democracy. The Justice Department must ensure that such fine words form the basis for resolute action. Without it, they are mere platitudes, the cancer of intolerance and incitement will continue to grow and - next time - America’s democracy may not dodge the bullets.

Tell Merrick Garland that you insist on a prompt and impartial investigation, and effective punishment of all who are found to have crossed the line between political rough and tumble and incitement to violence.

It's time to send the US Justice Department a clear and popular message: You MUST get a grip on the politicians, journalists and commentators whipping up anti-Trump hysteria, because the consequences of a another and - God forbid - more effective attack would be the destruction of American democracy

Help end the bias and injustice that could all too easily plunge the United States into Civil War. Add your signature to our Open Letter NOW!

SAVE AMERICAN DEMOCRACY -

INVESTIGATE AND STOP ANTI-TRUMP INCITEMENT!

Open Letter to The Attorney-General

Dear Mr Garland

In the wake of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, we write to urge you to take action against those Democrat politicians, journalists and social media commentators who have done so much to create the climate of hatred which forms the backdrop to the shooting of the Presidential candidate.

Intolerant language and barely cloaked incitement have been an integral part of the campaign to “stop Trump” for far too long, but recent weeks have seen a marked rise in this hysteria. The hate-filled comments and headlines created the climate for the shooting. It turned such an outrage from almost unthinkable into something that was only a matter of time.

Only five days before the attempt on Mr. Trump, the current President himself said that “it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye”.

Figure of speech or blatant dog-whistle for political violence and murder? Well, we and many millions of Americans know what we believe. One only has to visualise the liberal media reaction if Donald Trump had said this about Joe Biden less than a week before a reported Biden donor tried to kill him to understand that, at the very least, this is just one of many instances of extreme language which needs to be investigated.

Specifically, was President Biden speaking off the cuff, or did he read his provocative recommendation from the autocue which is so central to his campaign? If the latter, we urge you to add the staffers responsible for conceiving, writing and authorising this to the list of those who must be investigated for incitement.

As must all the other examples of open or coded incitement to violence against Donald Trump and his supporters - the integrity of American justice and the survival of our political system demand that you act immediately!

Yours sincerely,
