Film-Maker Visits Templar Castle in Portugal

OF all the countries in Europe, only one refused to turn against the Knights Templars when the corrupt King of France and a cowardly Pope demanded their destruction. The noble exception was Portugal.

Partly this was undoubtedly because the Portuguese remembered very well the heroic and central role that the Templars had played in the liberation of their nation from the Islamist tyranny and slavery of the Moors.

In any case, Portugal today is still home to some spectacular Templar monuments, and hosts various revived Templar ceremonies to this very day. All well worth visiting…
